Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) is committed to comply with the recent Constitutional Court ruling on combatting hoax dissemination. Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division,, confirmed the INP's commitment to adapt to the Constitutional Court's decision, which revoked Articles 14 and 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946. These articles addressed Criminal Law on the spread of fake news or hoaxes. "In response to the Court's decision, the INP will adjust its procedures, ensuring compliance with the new legal framework," he said on Friday (22/3/2024), as reported by antaranews.com. Chief Trunoyudo said that the new regulations would not retroactively affect cases already addressed by the police. He said that this non-retroactivity means the regulation applies only to future incidents. "Our actions remain in line with the law," he asserted. The Constitutional Court has granted partially the judicial review filed by human rights activists Haris Azhar and Fatiah Maulidiyanty, leading to the removal of Articles 14 and 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946.  These articles governed Criminal Law on the dissemination of fake news or hoaxes.
