Inp.polri.go.id - Beijing. China’s government and business community are “very satisfied” with their investments in Indonesia over the past decade, National Economic Council (DEN) Chair Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said on Thursday (22/5/2025).
Speaking to antaranews.com in Beijing, he said Chinese private sector players expressed confidence and happiness about their long-term cooperation with Indonesia.
“They are very happy,” Luhut noted after a meeting with CPPCC Deputy Secretary-General Zhang Maoyu and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
With President Prabowo emphasizing infrastructure readiness and land clearing, Luhut asserted that Chinese investments are progressing smoothly with no major hurdles.
Highlighting China’s strong supply chain, Luhut praised Beijing’s swift assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that 65% of Indonesia’s health supply chain now depends on China. He recalled requesting tech transfer and local content fulfillment during a meeting with the late Premier Li Keqiang nine years ago—commitments he said China has honored.
Indonesia-China trade reached $147.78 billion in 2024, with Chinese imports to Indonesia totaling $76.69 billion and Indonesian exports at $71.09 billion. China’s FDI in Indonesia stood at $8.1 billion in 2024, making it the country’s third-largest investor after Hong Kong and Singapore.
