Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Former Uzbekistan national team coach Timur Kapadze has expressed readiness to take over Indonesia’s national football team after the position was left vacant following Patrick Kluivert’s departure. 

Uzbek outlet Zamin reported on Wednesday that Kapadze, 44, is now available and awaiting formal negotiations.

“I am ready to lead Indonesia’s national team. I am currently free and waiting for an offer,” Kapadze told Zamin, as cited by antaranews.com on Tuesday (11/11/2025)..

Reports suggest that talks between Kapadze and the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) have reached the final stage, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

Coach Kapadze previously guided Uzbekistan to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the country’s first-ever appearance in the tournament. Despite the achievement, the federation appointed Fabio Cannavaro as head coach, prompting Kapadze to step down after serving briefly as his assistant.

Coach Kapadze’s appointment could mark a new era for Indonesia’s growing football ambitions.
