Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police Force has arrested a 19-year old ticket fraudster for orchestrating a scam involving the sale and embezzlement of Coldplay concert tickets that caused Rp 5.1 billion in losses.
Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro, the Chief of Central Jakarta Police, disclosed that the arrest was made after victims lodged five complaints to the Central Jakarta Police.
"From the five complaints, the total losses incurred by all complainants amount to Rp5.1 billion or 2,268 tickets," said Chief Condro on Monday (20/11/2023).
He explained that the complaints led to the immediate arrests of the suspect, identified by her initials GDA.
"On 17 November, the suspect was officially named and detained, starting last Friday," Chief Condro said.
He elaborated that the suspect initially bought 39 tickets from the Coldplay concert official website and successfully sold them to buyers. Subsequently, GDA approached her friends, offering them the opportunity to become resellers with the promise of complimentary tickets .
The suspect convincingly portrayed close ties with the concert promoter, despite having had no contact since the ticket sales commenced in May 2023. Unbeknownst to the resellers, she pocketed the funds amounting to billions, indulging in the purchase of luxury items and everyday necessities.
"The suspect is charged under Article 378 of the Criminal Code for fraud and Article 372 for embezzlement, with a maximum penalty of 4 years," Chief Condro revealed.
