inp.polri.go.id – South Sulawesi Police Chief, Inspector General Nana Sudjana, said that the number of criminal cases in the Greater Makassar area, namely Makassar, Maros and Gowa, increased when compared to 2021. Of the various criminal cases, the South Sulawesi Police Chief, admitted that the case of burglary was his concern.
The South Sulawesi Police Chief revealed that data on cases of theft, robbery, and motor vehicle theft occurred in the jurisdiction of the South Sulawesi Regional Police was 1,326 cases. This number increased compared to 2021 which reached 1,607 cases.
"We convey that our operation is part of an effort to reduce the number of crimes," said the South Sulawesi Police Chief, Thursday (1/9).
Of these cases, the police secured evidence of nine cars, 128 cellphones, 60 motorbikes, 22 gold, eight cows, and one bundle of documents, along with 272 suspects
The South Sulawesi Regional Police Chief admitted that from a number of cases of terror crimes, the bow and arrow terror also become his concern. Moreover, the perpetrators of those terror are still students or minors.
Based on their data, at least 52 students have become suspects in the bow and arrow case. He admitted that the condition was very worrying considering that many innocent people were victims.
"We are concerned about the victims. These victims do not know anything. They target the victims randomly," he said.
Because of this, he has ordered his staff to take firm action against the perpetrators of the bow and arrow terror. In fact, the police will not half-heartedly apply the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 with maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment.
