Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that around 20 C-130H Hercules aircraft operated by the Indonesian Air Force will undergo modernization and refurbishment through PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) and PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia (GMF).
The C-130H aircraft from the 1980–1982 procurement period have exceeded 40 years of operation, nearing 45,000 flight hours.
“Both PTDI and GMF received contracts for nine aircraft each, with additional units to follow,” said the C-130 Chief Modernisation Task Force, Colonel Arif Djoko, on Wednesday (26//11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com
The upgrade includes a Center Wing Box Replacement (CWBR) and an Avionic Upgrade Program (AUP), shifting analog systems to digital. The project is valued at US$150 million or Rp 2.4 trillion, extending aircraft service life by up to 15 years.
The first aircraft has arrived at PTDI’s Aircraft Services hangar, marking the domestic execution of strategic transport modernization. PTDI considers the program a long-term investment in strengthening national aerospace autonomy and reducing dependence on foreign facilities.
