inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Investigation Directorate Unit, succeeded in thwarting the distribution of methamphetamine by securing a man with the initials Ahmad Fauzi (24) in the VIP room of the Golden Eleven Hotel, Medan City (8/4/2025).

The arrest took place on Monday morning at around 01.26 am. The police team conducted a raid based on information from the public about suspicious activity at the hotel.

In hotel room number 830, the police found evidence of methamphetamine weighing a total of 4,182 grams (4.1 kg) wrapped in six red plastic packages with the words "CHINESE TEA GIFT" and one transparent clear plastic package.

In addition to drugs, the police also confiscated a number of tools suspected of being used for packaging and distribution, including a plastic press machine, an electric scale, empty plastic clips, a crystal methamphetamine spoon from a plastic pipette, two black and orange paper bags, and a black cellphone.

The Director of the North Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Investigation Unit, Senior Superintendent Jean Calvijn Simanjuntak, revealed that the perpetrator used the hotel as a place to stay to deceive officers and facilitate the distribution of crystal methamphetamine.

"The perpetrator used the hotel as a temporary residence to hide and distribute narcotics so that they were difficult to detect," he said, as reported by siantarcorner, Monday (9/22/2025).

The perpetrator is now being held at the North Sumatra Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Unit for further investigation. He was charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary to Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics, which regulates the possession and distribution of Class I narcotics in large quantities.

For his actions, the suspect faces a minimum prison sentence of six years to a maximum of 20 years, and could even be sentenced to life imprisonment or death, if proven to be part of a drug network.
