Inp.polri.go.id - Balikpapan. East Kalimantan Regional Police have confiscated 98.1 kg of methamphetamine and 2.8 kg of marijuana from 595 narcotics cases involving 767 suspects between January and mid-May 2025.
"Most of the seized drugs came from international networks entering through unofficial routes, making enforcement increasingly complex," said East Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Endar Priantoro on Saturday (17/5/2025).
In addition to meth and marijuana, officers also confiscated 462 ecstasy pills, 49,739 pills of controlled medicine, 23.81 grams of synthetic tobacco, and 1.9 grams of cathinone.
Authorities have already destroyed 40.45 kg of meth and 526.28 grams of marijuana from four cases, with court approval.
"We hope the amount of seized drugs does not keep increasing, even though it nearly matches the total for all of 2024," Chief Endar warned, as quoted by antaranews.com.
