Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police have detained a man suspected of taking his seven-year-old daughter hostage at a police post in Pejaten, South Jakarta on Monday (28/10/2024).
Identified as the girl’s father, the suspect was arrested after a short negotiation with authorities.
"The suspect has been taken into custody and is being transported to South Jakarta Metro Police headquarters," said South Jakarta Police Chief Investigator Superintendent Gogo Galesung, as reported by antaranews.com.
According to Pasar Minggu Police Office Chief Senior Inspector Anggiat Sinambela, the man initially held a knife to the child’s neck but surrendered after around 15 minutes of negotiation.
No injuries were reported, and the girl is now safe.
The incident was captured in a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by user @MilUsaid, showing the tense scene near Pejaten Village.
"Hostage situation in front of Pejaten Village this morning," the post read, documenting the alarming standoff.
