The Religion Ministry, Yaqul Cholil Qoumas flew to Saudi Arabia to check various preparation for the hajj of 1445 Hijri/2024 AD. “I want to see how far the hajj preparation in Saudi. Moreover, I actually also want to see the Nusuk regulation regarding the umrah backpacker which is now is the hottest latest topic,” said Yaqut on Thursday (3/21/2024). Regarding the umrah backpacker, Yaqut will review the regulation compatibility between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. “The goal is to ensure every pilgrim are guaranteed for their health, safety, and comfort, including the umrah backpacker,” says Yaqut. He hopes that the regulation drafted by the government is proper, accurate, and good, while also able to accommodate the need of pilgrim, particularly their safety. In its drafting process, Yaqut says that his ministry will continue to discuss the issue together with Umrah pilgrimage organizer (PPIU), Special Hajj Organizer (PIHK), as well as the Hajj and Umrah Guidance Group (KBIHU). “If it’s necessary, we will build a better and integrated system with PPIU, PIHK, and KBIHU in providing its service to the pilgrim,” conclude Yaqut.
