inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Forestry is continuing the process of handling and clearing wood left over from the disaster in Sumatra, focusing on several locations, including Langkahan, North Aceh, and North Sumatra.
"The cleanup is focused on Geudumbak Village, Langkahan District, where access is still hampered by piles of wood left over from the flood. Usable wood was collected at the scene and measured by the Forest Management Agency (BPHL) team, resulting in a total of 103 logs, equivalent to 93.11 cubic meters," said Subhan, Head of the Gunung Leuser National Park (BBTNGL), as reported by antaranews, Wednesday (1/7/2026).
Subhan explained that the Ministry of Forestry team, consisting of BBTNGL, the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA), the Watershed Management Agency (BPDAS), the Forest Area Stabilization Agency (BPKH), and the Sumatra Regional Law Enforcement Agency (Gakkum), joined other teams in deploying 23 pieces of heavy equipment.
The heavy equipment consists of 21 units belonging to the Ministry of Forestry, namely 10 claw excavators, nine excavators, and two bulldozers, as well as one bulldozer and excavator each belonging to the TNI, and two excavators from the Ministry of Public Works (PU).
He further added that, based on field observations, the humanitarian organization Rumah Zakat and the community estimated that the utilization of wood left over from the disaster would reach approximately three cubic meters using seven chainsaws.
Meanwhile, the accumulated wood utilization from December 29, 2025, to January 3, 2026, is estimated to be approximately 18.5 cubic meters.
