Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Puncak Jaya Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Kuswara, confirmed on Monday (7/4/2025) that a former police official, First Inspector (retired) Djamal Renhoat (62), was fatally shot by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Wuyukwi Village, Mulia District, Puncak Jaya, Central Papua, on Monday evening.

The incident occurred at the rvictim’s residence, which also served as a small shop. Renhoat was reportedly shot in the right cheek, with the bullet passing through his neck. His body has been evacuated to Mulia Regional Hospital, according to antaranews.com.

Authorities are investigating which faction of the KKB was responsible for the shooting. It remains unclear whether the body will be buried in Mulia or returned to his hometown.

Despite the incident, Chief Kuswara said that the overall security situation remains under control. However, officers remain on alert due to ongoing tensions between supporters of rival local election candidates amid a regional election dispute.
