Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi issued a formal apology on Tuesday(17/3/2026)regarding the severe congestion currently paralyzing the Ketapang-Gilimanukferry crossing.
Acknowledging the frustration of thousands of travelers caught in miles-long queues connecting Java and Bali, the Palace admitted that the extraordinary volume of holiday traffic has outpaced current port capacity. This public apology came as the government faces increasing pressure to resolve bottlenecks during the peak Eid Al-Fitr homecoming, or locally known as mudik, which is one of the busiest migration periods in recent years, according to antaranews.com
"We apologize for the extraordinary traffic density at the Ketapang and Gilimanuk crossings," State Secretary Prasetyo said, noting that field officers are under orders to find immediate solutions to reduce these tens-of-kilometers-long queues.
Despite these challenges, the administration maintains that it is working intensively to ensure the 2026 mudik season remains safe and manageable. Following a plenary cabinet session led by President Prabowo Subianto, all relevant ministries have been ordered to deploy maximum resources to transit hotspots. The government highlighted that while local delays are occurring, a multi-agency task force is currently implementing real-time traffic engineering and fleet adjustments to restore flow to the nation's critical transport corridors.
