Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government has announced an ambitious goal to deploy between 300,000 and 500,000 skilled migrant workers to global markets beginning April 2026.
This initiative, part of the "SMA/SMK Go Global" program, focuses on elevating high school and vocational graduates into specialized international roles such as welding, hospitality, and healthcare across Japan, Korea, Europe, and the United States.
“Our target is to send as many as possible, with a minimum of 300,000 to 500,000 workers ready for departure starting in April, June, and July,” said Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar on Tuesday (24/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The policy shift prioritized formal education to mitigate the risks associated with unskilled domestic labor. By ensuring candidates hold at least a high school diploma, the Ministry for the Protection of Migrant Workers (P2MI) aims to secure higher wages and better social security for citizens abroad.
