inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Tourism and Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno wants a 10 percent decrease in domestic flight ticket prices in October 2024.

In his statement, he said that the decrease in ticket prices could be done after reducing tax costs on flight ticket prices. These taxes include Value Added Tax (VAT), import spare parts duty tax, and Avtur VAT.

"The three main aspects are being simulated so that a decision can be made at the end of October. So that ticket prices can go down by 10 percent," he said on Friday (9/20/2024).

Sandiaga said that the government is still discussing the possibility of reducing VAT on airline tickets to below 11 percent. In addition, he considered that state revenues face many challenges, while state spending is mostly used for government programs.

"So everything must be seen holistically so that airline tickets can go down while maintaining state revenues. Because through this initiative, if airline tickets go down, state revenues can go up as tourism contributes to economic movement, especially in the regions," he said.

He hopes that the reduction in domestic airline ticket prices can immediately occur simultaneously. Especially flights to Eastern Indonesia, which the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy admitted have the highest ticket prices.

"Well, the government is trying to provide policies for these expensive tickets to make them more affordable. This year we are optimistic about breaking through one billion because as of July it has reached 600 million," he concluded.
