Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  President Prabowo Subianto received a phone call Thursday night from the U.S. President Donald Trump to discuss bilateral cooperation and commitment to global peace, Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya confirmed on Friday (13/6/2025).

“The two leaders exchanged updates on developments in their respective countries and congratulated each other on their recent elections,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

In the 15-minute call, both presidents emphasized strengthening U.S.–Indonesia ties and reaffirmed their support for global stability. President Trump also expressed interest in visiting Indonesia, while President Prabowo voiced his wish to meet in person.

The leaders last spoke in November 2024, shortly after President Trump’s election victory. Both countries celebrate 76 years of diplomatic relations this year, with deep cooperation across trade, education, and defense.

However, new U.S. tariff policies have raised concerns in Jakarta. Washington has imposed a 32% reciprocal import tariff on Indonesia, in addition to a 10% base rate. Prabowo has dispatched a negotiating team led by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto to resolve the issue.
