Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A total of 16,000 guests have been invited to attend the flag-raising and lowering ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on 17 August 2025.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed on Tuesday (12/8/2025) that 8,000 guests will attend the morning ceremony and another 8,000 the evening ceremony.
“Morning, 8,000; evening, 8,000, yet public enthusiasm is overwhelming,” he said. “Many people want to join the celebration, but due to space limitations, not everyone can be accommodated.”
The state secretary said invitations have reached full capacity and apologized to those unable to attend. The government will not require the public to wear traditional attire, though official guests are expected to do so.
“What matters is the spirit. If you have red or red-and-white clothing at home, wear it,” he added, as reported by antaranews.com.
Various performers from communities, institutions, and arts groups will take part in the festivities.
