Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have revealed that the gun used in a recent Tanah Abang shooting was allegedly obtained from a foreign citizen from Timor Leste.
The suspect, identified as HD, 37, is accused of shooting a man known as WA during an altercation in Central Jakarta.
“Based on the suspect’s statement, the firearm was given by his acquaintance from Timor Leste,” said Metro Jaya Police’s Director of General Crime Investigation, Senior Superintendent Iman Imanuddin, on Monday (10/11/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Police said suspect HD met the foreign man, identified as A, in East Nusa Tenggara in January 2025, where suspect A allegedly gifted him the pistol as a keepsake. The weapon, with its serial number erased, was later smuggled to Jakarta by sea and used in the shooting. Investigators are now searching for suspect A.
The incident occurred on 28 October 2025 after a dispute over security duties, leaving the victim with a gunshot wound to the back.
