Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and Canada signed the Indonesia–Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA) in Ottawa on Wednesday, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The pact was signed by Minister of Trade Budi Purwanto and his Canadian counterpart Maninder Sidhu.
“I am very pleased to be here for the signing of CEPA, and I believe this will be a historic moment—a significant milestone in Indonesia-Canada relations,” said President Prabowo in a statement released on Thursday (25/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The agreement eliminates 90.5% of Canadian tariffs on Indonesian goods, while Indonesia liberalizes 85.8% of tariff lines. PM Carney called the deal a “game changer,” noting it would make 95% of Canadian exports more competitive in Indonesia.
ICA-CEPA is expected to boost Indonesia’s exports to Canada to USD 11.8 billion by 2030, raise GDP by 0.12%, and lift investment by 0.38%. Both leaders also oversaw a defense cooperation MoU, including Canada’s pledge to join joint exercises and deepen military industry ties.
