Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police have identified the cause of death of driver found in an ice cream truck's freezer on Jenderal Sudirman Street, Karet, Tanah Abang, on Thursday.
Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro, the Chief of the Central Jakarta Police, explained on Friday (12/4/2024) that the victim was discovered in the rear cabin where the ice cream was stored.
The victim, identified as Zuardi (25), was delivering ice cream on Wednesday when a flat tire incident occurred. His co-worker, Abun (26), later assisted in transferring the ice cream to a replacement vehicle.
The victim was found deceased the next day, lying face down in the vehicle with the engine off but the key in the "on" position. His body was taken to Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for an autopsy, and the vehicle has been seized as evidence.
The police suspected the victim fell asleep and was inadvertently locked inside, finding no signs of violence, according to anataranews.com.
A co-worker has witnessed the victim habitually sleep inside the freezer, and the vehicle's door had an automatic locking system. CCTV footage around the scene has been confiscated for investigation.
