Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Immigration Directorate General has arrested a 58-year-old Chinese citizen, identified by WZ, wanted by Beijing for a massive corporate loan fraud amounting to 980 million yuan, or roughly Rp2.2 trillion.
He was arrested in Batam following a diplomatic request from the Chinese government.
“Handling of WZ was carried out based on a diplomatic note from the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta. WZ was arrested in the Nagoya area, Batam, on 13 November 2025,” said Immigration Intelligence Director Senior Superintendent Agus Waluyo during a press briefing on Tuesday (18/11/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
WZ, a former real estate CEO, allegedly fled China after failing to repay the corporate loan. Authorities said he had been on China’s most-wanted list as a financial fugitive and had been moving across several Asian countries since August before entering Indonesia on a visa-on-arrival on 7 October 2025.
Immigration officers detained him without resistance and are now coordinating with Chinese authorities for further legal processing under applicable diplomatic mechanisms.
