Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, ensured that Indonesia will not back down following Israeli army's terror efforts through attacks on UN peacekeeping property and personnel in Lebanon.

"The attacks are an Israeli terror effort against peacekeeping troops and the international community. Indonesia emphasizes that those who are steadfast in the principle of peace will never be afraid," she said on Thursday (10/10/2024).

As the 5th largest contributor of UN peacekeeping troops in the world and the largest in UNIFIL, said Retno, Indonesia will always support the UN peacekeeping mission according to the mandate of the 1945 Constitution.

According to her, Indonesian peacekeeping troops will always be loyal to the mandate and urge the UN Security Council to also ensure that the Security Council's mandate is maintained by taking concrete steps.

On that occasion, she said that the UN Security Council had held a briefing meeting to discuss the current situation in the Middle East. The meeting was held at the request of France regarding the issue of Lebanon and UNIFIL.

She further stated that this meeting was important to respond to the escalation of the conflict in Lebanon, especially regarding the Israeli attack on UNIFIL peacekeepers in the neutral "blue line" area.

She also mentioned that Indonesia was invited to give a statement at the meeting, as one of the countries that cares about humanitarian issues in war conflicts.

At the end of the opportunity, Retno emphasized that Indonesia strongly condemns the Israeli attack and calls the attack on UN property and personnel in Lebanon a violation of the UN Charter, the principles of multilateralism, and international humanitarian law
