Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has been officially selected to host the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2028 and the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2029, marking a historic first for Asia, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced.
FIBA officials, led by Treasurer Ingo Weiss and COO Patrick Mariller, made the announcement after meeting with Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) Chairman Budi Djiwandono, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, and Minister of State-owned Enterprises Erick Thohir.
The decision follows Indonesia’s successful role as one of the co-hosts of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, according to antaranews.com on Wednesday (7/5/2025).
These tournaments will showcase top young talent from around the world and solidify Indonesia’s position as a global sports destination. The host nations for the 2028 men’s U17 and 2029 women’s U19 tournaments will be announced later.
