Inp.polri.go.id - Medan.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) has dispatched advanced technological equipment to enhance security for the 2024 National Sports Week (PON) XXI in North Sumatra and Aceh.

“The Police’s Information and Communication Technology Division has sent modern technology to support PON security,” said the North Sumatra Regional Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Hadi Wahyudi, as quoted by antaranews.com on Thursday (29/8/2024), 

Key technologies include communication tools, spare parts, face recognition, license plate recognition, and crowd counting systems. The INPi is also  providing support with the integration of CCTV cameras and drones.

“These modern tools will enhance supervision, control, and security throughout the event,” Chief Hadi added.

The equipment is intended to help maintain a conducive environment and prevent potential security threats at the event venues. 

“This initiative is part of the INP’s preparation to assure the smooth and successful execution of PON in North Sumatra,” he emphasized.

Security efforts include patrols focused on key locations with CCTV coverage, divided into three operational zones across various event sites.
