Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Hundreds of Indonesian and Chinese food industry leaders met in Jakarta for a five-day business conference aimed at exploring opportunities for cooperation and investment between the two nations.

The event, titled "China Enterprises Go-overseas: In-depth Tour Into Indonesia," was organized by the Indonesia-China Economic, Social, and Cultural Cooperation Agency (LIT) in collaboration with the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Food Products, according to antaranews.com.

LIT Chairman Sudrajat highlighted on Monday (11/11/2024)  the sector's potential, while Cao Derong, Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce's food export and import division, emphasized the importance of food as a bridge for deeper economic and cultural exchanges.

Indonesia's food sector, which includes industries like livestock, fisheries, food packaging, and logistics, was identified as having significant growth potential due to strong domestic consumption and export opportunities. Last year, food exports and imports between Indonesia and China totaled billions of dollars, with ample room for expansion.

The meeting also featured discussions on business opportunities, halal certification, trade policies, and the use of local currencies for transactions. The delegation will also visit various industrial and fisheries sites and attend the SIAL Interfood Jakarta 2024 exhibition.
