Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military Police (Puspom TNI) is tightening rules on the use of sirens and strobe flashing lights within its ranks to prevent misuse on public roads amid rising public complaints that unauthorized use disturbs traffic.
“In the TNI, we have instructed each military police unit to enforce the rules,” said Military Police Commander Major General Yusri Nuryanto on Monday (22/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
He stressed that under Indonesia’s 2009 Traffic and Road Transport Law, sirens and strobe flashing lights are only permitted for ambulances, fire trucks, hearses, and escort vehicles, both two- and four-wheeled. Unauthorized use outside these categories is prohibited.
Commander Yusri added that the TNI has coordinated with the National Police Traffic Directorate to ensure compliance. He urged officers to follow the example of Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, who refrains from using sirens and strobes during official trips
