Indonesian Ministry of Health Prepared 1,500 Reagents to Study the Monkeypox

Budi Gunadi Sadikin, said the government had brought in 1,500 reagents to be distributed to various laboratories, for the detection and prevention of monkeypox. "The reagents are different from Covid-19. We have 500 reagents, yesterday there were nine that were used, and now we we added another 1,000. So in total there are 1,500 which we will distribute to laboratories throughout Indonesia," explained the Minister of Health. The Ministry of Health continues to promote good surveillance and optimize laboratory tests to detect and prevent monkeypox. To date, there are 1,100 laboratories in Indonesia that can be used to examine monkeypox samples. According to the Indonesian Minister of Health, so far, no Indonesians has been confirmed positive for monkeypox. He said the results of laboratory tests on specimens from nine patients with suspected monkeypox status in Indonesia were all negative. To support the anticipation of infection and to test samples of monkeypox disease, the government has prepared 2 special laboratories. "The government has prepared the necessary components in the early detection of monkeypox disease," said Government Spokesperson for Handling Nail and Mouth Disease (FMD) Prof. dr. Wiku Bakti Bawono Adisasmito, M.Sc., PhD. In particular, regarding how this disease can be transmitted, the risk of conditions that can be infected, and how to avoid monkeypox. "Such as the appointment of two laboratories for sample testing, namely the Central Laboratory for the Study of Primate Animals in Bogor and the Research Laboratory for Infectious Diseases Prof. dr. Sri Oemijati in Jakarta," he explained. "The public is also always encouraged to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle as an independent protection effort against the potential for transmission of the disease," said the Professor of Health Policy Expert at the University of Indonesia.
