Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Foreign Ministry confirmed that an Indonesian woman died in Cambodia on 12 August 2025 due to a drug overdose that caused acute hepatitis and complications.
“According to the official report from the Cambodian hospital and police, the deceased passed away from a drug overdose that led to complications and acute hepatitis,” said Judha Nugraha, the Director of Citizens Protection at the Foreign Ministry, on Wednesday (20/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The case began with a family complaint to Kemlu in May 2025. At that time, the woman said via video call that she had voluntarily left Indonesia due to family issues, was staying in Cambodia with a British acquaintance, and was not employed. Authorities assessed she was in good condition and not a victim of crime or human trafficking.
The Ministry later received word that her health deteriorated, leading to hospitalization in Siem Reap before her death. The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh is coordinating with Cambodian authorities and the family regarding the case.
