Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo officially launched the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children and Human Trafficking (PPA-PPO) on Wednesday (21/1/2026).
The new unit will operate across 11 Regional Police Headquarters and 22 Sub-regional Police Headquarters to uncover the "iceberg phenomenon" of unreported abuse and exploitation involving vulnerable groups.
"With the formation of this specialized directorate, we can ensure that victims from vulnerable groups are well-served and protected," Chief Sigit said, as cited by antaranews.com.
The directorate aims to suppress international syndicates, specifically targeting human trafficking cases linked to "online scamming" and illegal labor schemes abroad. To achieve this, the INP will collaborate with the Ministry of Migrant Worker Protection and international stakeholders.
Furthermore, the initiative promotes gender equality within the force, aiming for a 30% female officers quota to provide traumatized victims with more empathetic, professional psychological support and legal protection.
