Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Food Task Force is monitoring 63,688 markets nationwide to prevent the distribution of substandard rice, amid rising concerns over food quality.
“The Task Force is implementing preventive measures by overseeing around 63,688 markets,” said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the INP Public Relations Head of the Public Information Bureau, at a press conference on Friday (1/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The surveillance covers approximately 9,000 traditional markets and over 53,000 modern retail outlets. Chief Trunoyudo said that the operation reflects the police’s commitment to handling rice quality issues from production to distribution, beyond legal enforcement.
INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has ensured that rice stock availability will not be affected by ongoing investigations.
Currently, the police have named three PT FS employees as suspects in the case of non-compliant premium rice production. PT FS is one of four rice producers under investigation, along with PT PIM, SY store, and PT SR.
