inp.polri.go.id - Bekasi. The Bekasi Metro Regional Police have uncovered a motor vehicle theft case that occurred in several areas within and outside Bekasi Regency. This case was uncovered based on reports from residents of the Setu area.
Bekasi Metro Regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Mustofa, explained that based on the investigation and subsequent developments, police arrested four perpetrators with the initials FZ (28), DS (19), and K (28). All three are residents of Cijengkol Village, Setu District, Bekasi Regency.
"Meanwhile, another perpetrator, IBO (21), was successfully apprehended by the Violent Crimes Sub-directorate Unit after operating in the North Cikarang area," he said on Friday (8/1/2025).
The perpetrator, FZ, was identified as the executor, who had previously served time in Cikarang Prison for a drug criminal case in 2019. DS acted as a driver, transporting the executor to the target location, and K served as the custodian and seller of the stolen goods and the tools of the crime. Investigations revealed that this group had committed thefts in various locations, including Ciledug, Burangkeng, and the Setu-Bantargebang border.
The perpetrators operated by riding around the area, both day and night to search for an unattended motorcycle. One of the perpetrators would get out and break the ignition using a T-spanner and a magnetic lock, while the other stood guard and monitored the situation. After successfully breaking the lock, they made off with the stolen motorcycle.
In this case, the Criminal Investigation Unit seized several pieces of evidence from the perpetrators, including five stolen motorcycles, two T-keys, one magnetic key, and one cellphone. The victim's vehicle registration and ignition key were also seized as evidence.
The victims of this series of motorcycle thefts came from various backgrounds, ranging from students to private sector employees.
