Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police (INP) have returned 39 books previously seized from suspects in a riot case, declaring they are unrelated to the criminal investigation.
The East Java Regional Police handed the books back to the owners or their families on Monday, according to a police statement Tuesday (30/9/2025).
“The INP ensures every investigative step is carried out objectively, professionally, and proportionally. After an in-depth review, investigators concluded that the books had no direct connection to the alleged crime,” said INP Public Relations Agency Head of Public Information Bureau Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The decision follows the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), which mandates the return of seized items not linked to a crime. Chief Trunoyudo emphasized that the initial seizure was part of a standard process to evaluate all potentially relevant materials.
