Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta High Court has extended on Tuesday (10/9/2024) former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo’s prison sentence from 10 to 12 years for corruption within the Ministry of Agriculture.

The court also raised the fine from Rp 300 million to Rp 500 million, with an alternative of four months in prison.

"The court strengthens the ruling of the Corruption Court but adjusts the prison term and restitution imposed on the defendant," said Presiding Judge Artha Theresia, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Former minister Linpo is now ordered to pay Rp 44.3 billion and USD 30,000 within one month. If not paid, his assets will be seized and auctioned. If these assets are insufficient, he will face an additional five years in prison.

The heavier sentence follows the Corruption Eradication Commission’s (KPK) appeal, which was dissatisfied with the initial 10-year sentence. The KPK had originally sought a 12-year term, Rp 500 million fine, and repayment of over Rp 44 billion plus USD 30,000 in restitution.
