Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have uncovered a clandestine laboratory producing synthetic tobacco in South Jakarta, arresting a 25-year-old suspect and uncovering an operation valued at up to Rp 2 billion.

“Acting on public information, our team secured the suspect and evidence at a lodging facility in Jagakarsa,” said First Inspector Ahmad Huda, the Acting Unit Head 2 of the Sub-directorate 1 of the  Metro Jaya Police Narcotics Directorate, on Monday (19/1/2026), as cited by antaranews.com

The raid took place on 8 January 2026, at a guesthouse near Lenteng Agung Station, where police arrested a man identified as R. Officers seized spray bottles containing synthetic tobacco chemicals, raw tobacco, and mixing equipment used to manufacture narcotics.

Investigators estimate the materials could be processed into around two kilograms of ready-to-distribute synthetic tobacco.

The suspect is now in custody at the Metro Jaya Narcotics Directorate, while police continue to trace suppliers and distribution networks behind the illegal lab.
