inp.polri.go.id - Pemalang. The Pemalang Sub-regional Police are currently investigating the parties who instigated the clashes during Rizieq Shihab sermon in Pegundan Village, Petarukan District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java.

"The investigation into those who carried out the provocation or acts of violence is ongoing. We are also gathering data and identifying the victims to clarify the incident," explained Pemalang Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Eko Sunaryo, Thursday (7/24/2025).

In this case, his office, along with the Pemalang Regency Government, the 0711 Military District Command, and relevant community organizations, held a coordination meeting to ensure the security of the event. 

"This meeting was attended by representatives from the local government, the 0711 Military District Command (Kodim), the Pemalang Police, as well as members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) and the Indonesian Student Movement (PWI-LS). The meeting agreed to a Joint Statement to ensure the event remains safe, orderly, free from violations of regulations, and non-provocative," he said.

A technical security coordination meeting had been held the day before the event. Despite the security measures, clashes still broke out about 50 meters from the main stage.
