inp.polri.go.id - Purwakarta. Following a flood disaster in Purwakarta, the West Java Regional Police personnel and Purwakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) conducted a search and rescue operation.
The downpour overnight and a broken dam of Cinangka river caused the region of Batu Layang, Cikao Bandung Village to be inundated by the flood.
Head of the West Java Regional Police Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast says that the flood inundated the several regions in the area with various water levels, from 30 cm to 1.5 meters.
Although the situation was bad, there are no reports of evacuation from the area.
The Search and Rescue team of the C Pioneer Battalion collaborated with various related parties, including the Purwakarta BPBD represented by Heryadi Erlan, the Purwakarta Fire Department led by Judhi Herdiana, as well as local sub-district and village officials.
“Various equipment have been deployed to support this disaster mitigation effort, including data panels, post tents, boats, boots, life jackets, and various other equipment to ensure the safety and comfort of the SAR team and affected residents," he explained on Sunday (3/9/2025).
According to the reports from the rescue team, the water level in the area is going down, from the previous 1.5 meters to 50 cm.
The disaster mitigation effort, as of now, is still ongoing, with the hope that it would be fully recovered soon.
