inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo says Indonesia as a country must be able to protect the national domestic market. This was conveyed by the President during his opening remarks at Trade Expo Indonesia at ICE BSD Tangerang.

“With the fourth biggest population in the world, 280 million people, we have to be able to protect our local market. We must be able market our products,” says the president on Wednesday (10/9/2024).

Aside from that, domestic and national products, according to Jokowi, also must be marketed massively, so that local products can dominate domestically and help its market in international stages.

"Marketing should not always be done in conventional ways as we are now in the digital era. We must market the product massively in the digital space to market our products," he explained.

The president said that the world has not yet fully recovered from the economic downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic. High inflation still haunts many countries.

"The estimated global inflation is around 5.9 percent, and along with the ongoing conventional and trade wars, makes many countries continue to make trade restriction policies," he explained.

In addition, he revealed that there has been a lot of discussion about overproduction in China. According to him, many countries are concerned with the growing issues and are preparing to protect their domestic markets.
