inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) hopes police would continue to maintain their neutrality during the Regional Head Election in Papua. This step is also to guarantee the election goes smoothly.

“We have just heard of the Papua Regional Police neutrality commitment, which they made into a pocket note to all police ranks in the region,” says the Commissioner of Kompolnas, Poengky Indarty on Wednesday (10/16/2024).

Poengky appreciates this step taken by Papua Regional Police who wrote down their neutrality commitment into a pocket note.

“We hope that with the pocket note, police ranks can uphold their commitment in neutrality strongly,” says Poengky in her official statement.

She adds that her party had also reminded the police institution to always open for critic and suggestion from the public regarding their neutrality.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of Prevention, Public Participation, and Public Relations Division of Papua Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), Yofrey Piryamta Kebelen, says that the neutrality of military and police members are important as they have significant impact on the democratic quality of the state.

“As the state institution responsible in maintaining order, security, also the defense and security of the country, the Indonesian National Military and Indonesian National Police must stand on the interest of the state,” explains Yogrey.
