Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) praised the swift action of the West Sumatra Regional Police and Padang Pariaman Sub-regional Police, for arresting IS, the suspect in the murder of Nia Kurnia Sari, a street food vendor.

"Kompolnas appreciates and thanks all members of the police for their quick response and hard work. We are pleased with the police's performance," said Kompolnas member Poengky Indarti on Friday (20/9/2024).

IS was arrested on Thursday in an empty house after police conducted an extensive search for 11 days following his status as a suspect. During this period, authorities scoured various locations, including forests and hills believed to be his hiding spots.

Kompolnas urged the police to pursue appropriate legal action against IS, noting his status as a repeat offender. 

"We hope the investigation uses scientific crime investigation to ensure the results are professional and valid," Poengky emphasized.

Nia's family reported her missing on the night of 6 September 2024. Her body was later discovered buried and unclothed on 8 September 2024, about 500 meters from her home in Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra.
