Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia’s special operations air force unit, Kopasgat, has been recognized by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as the country’s first military team to operate using wingsuits.
The recognition ceremony took place at Djamsuri Shooting Range, Halim Perdanakusuma base, Jakarta, on Friday (11/7/2025).
“With this, MURI certifies Kopasgat as the record-holder for being Indonesia’s first military wingsuit team,” said MURI’s Operational Director Yusuf Ngadri, as quoted by antaranews.com
Commander of Kopasgat, Air Vice Marshal Deny Muis, explained that the unit was formed to meet the Air Force’s need for a silent, high-speed infiltration force. Wingsuit jumps, performed from 10,000 feet, allow soldiers to glide to a precise landing point before engaging in ground operations.
Established officially in 2024, the wingsuit unit began development in 2018 and now includes 10 highly trained personnel.
“With their capability, our wingsuit troops are expected to be the spearhead in stealth combat operations,” Commander Deny added.
