The success of Indonesian National Police (INP) in revealing the involvement of several Communication and Digital Ministry staff with online gambling has garnered appreciation from various parties, one of which are from the Indonesian Children Protection Commission (KPAI).

“KPAI commends the successful uncovering by INP and hopes that other similar criminals are quickly arrested too,” says member of KPAI, Kawiyan, Jakarta, Friday (11/1/2024).

According to Kawiyan, the act of the ministry officials have hindered the government’s effort in eradicating online gambling.

KPAI has asked INP to search other suspects in order to protect the community, particularly the children, from the negative impact of online gambling.

“I am sure that there are many others who are skilled in digital technology and involved in backing the online gambling activity, both for their own or group interest,” said Kawiyan.

Previously, the police force of Metro Jaya Regional Police have arrested 11 suspects of online gambling collaborators, which also includes the staff of Communication and Digital Ministry.

The Head of Metro Jaya Regional Police Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi, says that the employee was tasked to search and block the online gambling sites. However, they misuse their authority to instead protect the online gambling sites for their own gain.
