inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) invites the public to make the month of Ramadan a momentum to build a child-friendly movement, especially in efforts to fulfill children's rights.
"Make Ramadan a momentum to build a child-friendly movement, especially in efforts to fulfill children's rights," said KPAI Member for Education, Leisure, Culture, and Religion Aris Adi Leksono, Monday (3/3/2025).
According to Aris, efforts to utilize the momentum of Ramadan are important considering the current situation of Indonesian children which is quite concerning, especially in the situation of care, mental health, and violence
"Activities during Ramadan are not the same as usual, working hours are shorter and there are many activities that can be done in the home environment. The spirit of reviving spiritual values is quite high which causes social concern to increase, so it is very possible to give special attention to children, especially in the family environment," said Aris.
Based on data from the 2022-2023 National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas) regarding the situation of child care in Indonesia, it shows that 2.85 percent of toddlers receive inadequate care, and 3.59 percent of children do not live with both parents.
In addition, there are 12.25 percent of children who eat or learn to eat without their parents/guardians.
"Such a parenting situation shows a lack of affection and attachment between family members. This will result in a high divorce rate, and the threat of a moral and character crisis, which has a negative impact on children's growth and development," explained KPAI member Aris.
He hopes that efforts to enliven Ramadan with a child-friendly spirit can be the solution to the current child protection situation.
