Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. The Makassar City Sub-regional POlice have arrested six suspects linked to a cheating syndicate during the 2025 university entrance tests at Hasanuddin University in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
The arrests followed a tip-off from the University’s Faculty of Law Vice Dean Prof. Amir Ilyas, who noticed suspicious computer activity during the test, according to antaranews.com on Wednesday (7/5/2024).
“This wasn’t just about cheating—this was organized crime,” said Makassar Police Chief Senior Superintendent Arya Perdana. “Anyone involved, from internal staff to students, will face legal and academic consequences
The suspects, identified by initials AL, ZR, MY, IT, MS, and CAF, played various roles in the scheme. Suspect CAF, a female medical student and former math olympiad winner, acted as a proxy test-taker and operated remote access software.
CCTV footage revealed the installation of remote desktop applications on exam computers, enabling live access from outside. Questions were captured and relayed to others for solving. Authorities say suspects were promised up to Rp 200 million if the client passed.
