inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Vice Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Didit Herdiawan Ashaf, confirmed that the condition of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, is improving.
The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries reportedly fainted while attending a memorial service for the victims of the ATR 42-500 crash.
Didit stated that Trenggono has already awakened from his faint and is not experiencing any serious problems. He stated that Minister Trenggono fainted due to exhaustion following a series of official duties and activities.
"He's conscious, he's fine. He is just tired," he said, as reported by RRI on Sunday (1/25/2026).
The incident occurred while Trenggono was leading the memorial ceremony for the victims of the ATR 42-500 crash. The memorial service took place at the AUP Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Campus in Pasar Minggu.
The Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries fainted after handing over the bodies for state burial. Several employees at the memorial ceremony immediately rushed to provide first aid.
Vice Minister Didit then stepped in to led the farewell ceremony on behalf of Minister Trenggono. He expressed his deepest condolences for the loss of the employee and crew.
"On behalf of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, we express our deepest condolences for the loss of the employee and crew," he said.
He stated that the victims died while carrying out their state duties. They were on a mission to monitor marine and fisheries resources.
The ATR 42-500 aircraft, registered PK-THT, crashed on Mount Bulusaraung, South Sulawesi. The incident occurred on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
In addition to the two Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries employees, seven crew members also died in the accident. Another Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries employee, Deden Maulana, was buried earlier.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries ensures that all the victims' rights are granted according to regulations. These rights include posthumous promotion and family compensation.
