Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have begun reviewing evidence in a defamation report filed against comedian Pandji Pragiwaksono over alleged remarks concerning major Islamic organizations, marking the early stage of a formal inquiry.
“Investigators are analyzing the reported statements and related evidence to ensure the process remains objective and fair,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto on Friday (9/1/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The report was submitted this week by a complainant representing youth groups linked to Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah, who allege that comments made by Pandji during a public show and on a digital streaming platform contained elements of incitement and religious insult.
The case centers on whether the statements constitute criminal offenses under existing laws. Authorities urged the public to remain calm while investigators conduct clarification, evidence analysis, and legal assessment before determining further steps.
