Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police is investigating the death of an inmate at Cipinang Penitentiary, which occurred on Sunday.
The Metro Jaya Police Head ofPublic Relations, Senior Superintendent. Ade Ary Syam Indradi, said on Monday (16/9/2024) that the investigators are probing the cause of death and have questioned two persons, an inmate identified as EJS and a prison officer identified as KR.
At around 9 pm, inmate EJS received food for the victim and delivered it to the victim's cell, where the victim appeared to be asleep. The following day, inmate EJS found the food untouched and the victim lying face down.
Preliminary investigations showed no signs of violence.
"There were no blunt or sharp force injuries," Chief Ade Ary said, adding that the initial assumption suggested that the victim died of illness.
The case is currently being handled by the Jatinegara Police Office.
