Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police uncovered 276 street crime cases during the "Sikat Jaya 2024" operation, conducted from 9 to 23 August 2024 to ensure public order ahead of Indonesia’s regional elections.
Metro Jaya Police Head of the General Crime Division, Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra, explained on Thursday (19/9/2024) that 341 suspects were arrested during the operation.
“The goal of this operation is to create a safe environment ahead of the upcoming elections,” he said.
The 276 cases included 6 assault cases, 12 robberies, 68 burglaries, 108 vehicle thefts, 23 regular thefts, 12 gambling cases, 4 gang attacks, 8 prostitution cases, 9 emergency law violations, 4 extortion cases, 10 cases of receiving stolen goods, and 12 cases of fraud and embezzlement.
The gambling cases included 3 online and 9 conventional incidents. The suspects face sentences ranging from 2 to 20 years, depending on the charges
