Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Jakarta Metro Jaya Police arrested a 28-year-old man, identified as OM, suspected of being a courier and distributor of 13.37 kilograms of marijuana in South Jakarta.
The arrest took place on Monday in Pondok Cabe, South Tangerang, following intelligence reports of drug trafficking in the nearby Lebak Bulus area.
“We arrested the suspect with evidence of 13 packages of marijuana weighing 13,370 grams, stored inside a gray suitcase at his residence,” said South Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Nicolas Ary Lilipaly at a press conference on Tuesday (26/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Investigators believe the marijuana came from a Medan–Jakarta trafficking network. Suspect OM admitted to acting as a courier since June, delivering 253 kilograms in four separate shipments before being caught.
Police charged the suspect under the Narcotics Law No. 35/2009, which carries penalties ranging from six years in prison to life imprisonment or the death penalty. He remains in custody at South Jakarta Police headquarters.
