Metro Jaya Regional Police sent 1,728 personnel for demonstration security in front of Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) and Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (2/21/2024). “We deployed 1,728 personnel both for the security of KPU and Bawaslu. As of now, the traffic flow has been managed by closing the access for the preparation in serving elements who will later came to the KPU main office,” said Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro. Susatyo explains that for the security of Bawaslu Main Office, it will be applied situationally according to the development in the field. “Our duty as police force is to ensure that the demonstration goes securely, peacefully, and orderly, while also not disturbing others. If there is going to be many people joining the demonstration, police will close the road to Bawaslu,” explained Susatyo. Police still could not estimate on how many people would join the demonstration as they continue to coordinate with the demonstration field commander. In his conclusion, Susatyo reveals that recently various elements of society continue to come to KPU or Bawaslu Main Office in Jakarta to voice their complaints for the 2024 General Election process for various election violations occurred.
