Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan announced on Tuesday (16/4/2024) a shift in regulations regarding goods brought from abroad by passengers, excluding Indonesian Migrant Workers, now under the jurisdiction of a Minister of Finance Regulation.

Previously covered by Minister of Trade Regulation Number 36 of 2023, these regulations aimed to streamline processes and clarify responsibilities.

In a meeting with Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Customs Service Users Director Nirwala Dwi Heryanto, it was agreed that the Ministry of Finance would regulate restricted carry-on items.

Minister Zulkifli emphasized that buying goods, whether two or three shirts, is permissible as long as taxes are paid. Import restrictions will mainly target items impacting domestic industries, aiming to avoid unnecessary restrictions and focus on specific industries.

MInister of Trade Regulation Number 36 of 2023, effective from 10 March  2023, addresses import policy adjustments, shifting import supervision, and facilitating imports for Indonesia migrant workers. It also outlines import facilities for industries with importer-producer identification numbers and primary customs partnerships.
